HAMDEN, CT May 19 2018— A New Haven woman faces a robbery charge after police say she threatened to stab a security officer with a needle during a shoplifting incident at T.J. Maxx in February. Hamden Police responded to T.J. Maxx, located at 2335 Dixwell Avenue, on Feb. 27 on the report of a robbery, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that Tatiana Bojka exited the store with merchandise, valued at $270, and a loss prevention officer made an attempt to detain her. Bojka told the security officer that she was in the possession of a needle and that she would stab him, according to Smith. She then entered a motor vehicle and fled toward Skiff Street.
Officer Robert O’Neill conducted an extensive investigation that led to an arrest warrant for Bojka. She was arrested May 16 at Meriden Superior Court.
Bojka, 37, of Grand Avenue in New Haven, was charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. She was detained on a court-ordered $75,000 bond and arraigned later in the day.
The New Haven Police Department assisted in the investigation.
