1 dead, security guard shot in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE WI March 10 2020 Milwaukee police are investigating a quadruple shooting near North 35th Street and West Fairmount Avenue early Saturday, March 8. Officials say the shooting stemmed from a fight at a bar and left a 31-year-old man dead.
Authorities said the fight erupted inside a tavern just before bar close, when people started firing shots inside and outside the bar.
A CBS 58 crew saw broken glass, blood and debris on the ground outside the Cheetah Club on the 5000 block of North 35th Street.
Milwaukee police say a 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, a 31-year-old man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, and a 34-year-old man suffered a graze wound and was treated.
“When I found out what happened — someone lost their life and the security guard got shot — it was like … these are really nice people over here,” said Robert Terry, who works nearby and knows the club’s owners. “It’s sad because the business is just getting started and they’re trying so hard and then something like this happens.”
Police said a 26-year-old suspect showed up at a hospital with several gunshot wounds and is being treated. The suspect is in custody.
