1 injured in shooting involving federal court security officer near Pioneer Courthouse Square
Portland OR July 4, 2023 One person has been hospitalized after a shooting involving a federal court security officer in downtown Portland on Monday.
Just after 6:30 a.m., officers responded to a shooting at Southwest 6th Avenue and Southwest Morrison Street, near Pioneer Courthouse Square.
Police say a man was found at the scene with injuries. The victim was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive.
According to police, the federal court security officer was taken to a hospital for injuries related to an assault. He was not shot.
Per police protocol, the Homicide Unit has responded to the scene. Southwest 6th Avenue will be closed between Southwest Morrison and Southwest Yamhill during the investigation. Pioneer Courthouse Square will also be closed.
