13-year-old arrested, brought loaded semi-automatic gun to Md. middle school
PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. June 22 2022 A 13-year-old student at Isaac J. Gourdine Middle School in Fort Washington, Md., will be charged after bringing a loaded gun to school Tuesday, according to a spokesperson with the Prince George’s County Police Department.
The student showed other students, one of whom reported it, police said. The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution.
At approximately 8:15 a.m., the Prince George’s County Police Department responded to the school for a report of a student with a gun. Officers found the student in the classroom, according to the report.
The child was arrested and the weapon was seized.
The student had a non-serialized P80 semi-automatic handgun in his waistband loaded with 16 rounds including one in the chamber, according to information from law enforcement.
P80’s are often called ghost guns.
7News’ Brad Bell reported Tuesday that students told a security staffer what they’d seen.
The incident is now under investigation. Charges against the student are pending, police said.
No further details were immediately released.
