17-year-old shot and killed in Macon Mall was with a group attacking shooter
MACON, Ga. August 5 2021— According to an incident report, a shooting that killed a 17-year-old in the Macon Mall all started from a fight between four people in which three people were attacking a man.
Deputies say they arrived to the Macon Mall at 3661 Eisenhower Parkway around 4:00 p.m. in reference to multiple reports of a person shot.
When deputies arrived they found 17-year-old Quentavious Moore on the floor inside the food court with a gunshot wound near his chest.
One witness stated that they observed a group of three men attacking one man.
All three men were holding down the man and threatened him that if he tried to get up they would shoot him, according to the witness.
The man was able to get off the ground and broke free and then shot one of the attackers(Moore) and retreated.
Moore succumbed to his wounds around 4:50 p.m.
The coroner discovered two wounds on both Moore’s chest and right arm.
CCTV footage was reviewed and confirmed that Moore and two other men were attacking a man that then shot Moore and ran away.
The two attackers not shot also fled the scene.
This scene is still under investigation.
According to the incident report, no charges have been filed at this time.
So far the owners of the Macon mall have issues the following statement in response to the shooting:
We believe this was an isolated tragic event. There were security officers at the Mall at the time of the altercation. The Bibb County Sheriff’s office has reviewed our security tapes and interviewed security on-site to help determine how this unfortunate incident occurred. A shooting incident in the Eisenhower Corridor is unacceptable. Mall ownership has a strong working relationship with Macon-Bibb County leadership, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Eisenhower Business Improvement District and will continue to work to ensure safety is the top priority within the Eisenhower Corridor.
