18 people arrested after police in Los Angeles bust retail theft ring
LOS ANGELES CA December 5th, 2022 Eighteen people have been arrested after Los Angeles police busted a retail theft ring, police say.
The Los Angeles police busted an organized crime ring that targeted retail stores as recently as last week, according to The Associated Press.
The ages of the suspects ranged from 15 to 20, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
About $23,000 worth of items were reportedly stolen at chain retail stores Thursday and Friday, LAPD said, according to the AP.
The suspects possibly were also involved in at least 14 other incidents with stolen items worth about $90,000, according to LAPD.
Police did not identify the suspects or any of the retailers that were hit by the alleged retail theft ring, according to the AP.
The LA Times reported that the stolen items have been recovered and returned to the stores.
LAPD said that they have impounded about eight vehicles in connection with the investigation.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department worked with the LAPD on the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released.
