18 Security Officers Shot, 2 Fatally During Weekend Violence

At least eighteen security officers were shot including two fatally during a weekend of violence.
Another security officer who was off duty lost her life after being shot to death by her former boyfriend.
27-year-old daughter Ty’Keytah Burford’s boyfriend Michael Benbow has turned himself into the police.
Police in Texas and New York do not have anyone in custody for the shooting deaths of the security officers.
Among those shot, included a security officer attempting to stop a vandal who was damaging a bank in Seattle. Police say that while the security officer was trying to detain him, the man pulled a firearm and shot the security officer four times. He is listed in critical condition.
Police report that so far, no arrests have been made in this shooting.
Violence without firearms was always reported across the country and injured five other security officers.
In Houston, two security officers fatally shot armed persons in separate incidents.
A security officer shot and killed a man after she got off duty from a nearby apartment complex early Monday, according to the Houston Police Department.
This happened just after 2:30 a.m. outside a Shell gas station on Westheimer Road near Fondren in the Westchase area.
Houston police said the man pulled a gun on the security officer who was waiting for her ride at the gas station. When police arrived at the scene, they found the man who had been shot dead outside the gas station.
Police said the security guard and the man knew each other and that she had several encounters with him. He is said to have been known to cause issues at the apartment complex she works at. There have been several police reports filed on him.
Police said the man saw the security officer at the gas station and walked up to her. There was some sort of verbal exchange when he pulled a gun on her. The woman pulled her gun and shot him once, police said. The security officer was not hurt in the incident and was in uniform. She is cooperating with investigators. Right now, it’s unclear if she’ll face any charges. Police said there is good surveillance footage from this gas station of how this all played out that they’ll be reviewing.
A second Houston security accidentally killed a victim of a robbery. Police said that the security officer observed several men in ski masks trying to rob a person and went to aid the man.
It happened in the parking lot of a nightclub off the North Freeway near West Road just after 3 a.m. Sunday.
The security officer saw the men with guns approach a victim in the parking lot. One of them grabbed the victim which led to the security guard opening fire, but he accidentally hit the victim twice. That man is hospitalized.
Police said the security guard managed to keep one of the suspects at the scene until help arrived. They also said the other suspect escaped in a gray Dodge Charger.
