2 dead following Dollar General burglary, high-speed car chase
Mobile AL Sept 9 2019
Two people are dead died after leading law enforcement on a chase that ended in a car crash in Mississippi, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed.
The driver of the vehicle was Herbert Bernard Green Jr. The passenger has not yet been identified.
Early Sunday morning, deputies arrived at a Dollar General on Old Pascagoula Road after getting a call about a burglary in progress.
The deputies saw the burglary suspects driving away in a white vehicle that fit the description of one that had been captured on video during previous burglaries at Dollar General and Family Dollar stores.
Deputies began following the vehicle but lost track of it because of its speed, according to the sheriff’s office.
As the suspects drove into Mississippi, the car flipped and one person was ejected from the vehicle. Both suspects died at the scene of the crash.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office plans to release the passenger’s name following a positive identification.
