2 found guilty in 2023 shooting, armed robbery at Warren Michigan dispensary
Warren MI September 4 2024
Two men were found guilty of attempted murder in connection with a robbery and shooting at a Warren marijuana dispensary last year, officials said.
Lavall Perkins, 64, of Detroit, and Michael Graham, 48, of Eastpointe, were both convicted Friday in Macomb County Circuit Court of assault with intent to murder, a life felony, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, a life felony, and armed robbery, also a life felony, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said. Their trial lasted eight days, it said.
Prosecutors also said both Perkins and Graham, habitual third offenders, are scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 16, 2024.
“These convictions affirm our community’s commitment to holding those who commit violent crimes accountable,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement. “The jury’s decision reflects the strength of the evidence and the courage of the victims who came forward. We hope this verdict brings some measure of closure to those affected by this senseless act of violence.”
Attorneys for Perkins and Graham were not immediately available to comment on Tuesday.
Officials said the charges against the two men stem from a shooting during a robbery at a Warren dispensary on June 9, 2023.
Authorities said two people just before 1 a.m. knocked on the door of a dispensary on Sherwood Avenue near Frazho Road.
As a 40-year-old security guard at the business approached its glass door, an unidentified man started shooting through it, striking the guard, they said. Police said the suspect unlocked the door and shot at the security guard again.
They said the two men, one identified as Perkins, entered the store and stole its safe. The suspects left the store and got into a Chevrolet Tahoe that was waiting for them, according to investigators. Police said Graham, who reportedly worked at the dispensary, allegedly drove the SUV.
