2 killed during attempted robbery at bingo parlor in Myrtle Beach area
HORRY COUNTY, S.C. July 29 2019 Two people were killed during an attempted robbery and shooting at the Waccamaw Bingo hall near Belle Terre Boulevard, according to Horry County police.
Horry County Police are looking for the person believed to be responsible for the deadly shooting. The suspect is described as a black man wearing grey sweatpants, grey long sleeve shirt, and a face covering.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 73-year-old Stephen “Steve” Johnson, Sr. and 46-year-old Stephen “Sparky” Johnson, Jr. Officials say the father-son duo owned the bingo hall.
A witness told WMBF News that they were playing bingo when they heard gunshots, and everyone started running and screaming.
Brenda Hoffman has been playing at the Waccamaw Bingo Hall for several years and was inside when the shots were fired.
“I just got up and ran out the back door,” said Brenda Huffman.
Horry County police are currently interviewing anyone who may have seen anything during the incident.
“It’s obviously something you wouldn’t expect in this area, I mean a bingo hall,” said Daniel Junk who works in a neighboring building.
Police said the suspect has not been captured. Officers are searching the surrounding areas around the bingo parlor for the suspect.
The shelter in place that was issued for the nearby neighborhoods is no longer in effect and the bingo hall does remain closed at this time.
“It’s been a nice place to play Bingo and everyone’s friendly, but this is just terrible,” said Huffman.
