3 arrested after reported robbery of armored vehicle at credit union
KOKOMO, Ind. March 21, 2026โ Three individuals were arrested following a reported robbery in Kokomo on Monday morning.
According to a news release from the Kokomo Police Department, officers responded to a credit union in the 2800 block of South Lafountain Street at around 9:37 a.m. on Monday on a report of a robbery of an armored vehicle.
When officers arrived at the scene, an employee with the armored vehicle told officers that they had been pepper-sprayed by individuals and robbed โof an undetermined amount of currency.โ The release said the employee was transported to a local hospital, was treated and has since been released.
After a description of the suspect vehicle was provided to the department, the vehicle was found to be abandoned in the 3000 block of Matthew Drive. The release said that a witness reportedly saw individuals exit the vehicle, drop money and get into a Dodge Challenger, which drove south. The Dodge Challenger was also reportedly located abandoned along U.S. 31 in Hamilton County.
As part of the investigation, officials were led to an apartment complex on the east side of Indianapolis. After a series of traffic stops, three individuals were arrested. After a search of four vehicles, an apartment and a business in Hamilton County, evidence obtained was reportedly linked to the robbery.
According to the release, 30-year-old William Wooten, 19-year-old William Washington and 20-year-old Travis Fennell were taken into custody on the following preliminary charges:
Robbery, a Level 3 felony
Robbery, a Level 5 felony
Corrupt business influence, a Level 5 felony
The three individuals were transported to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center, according ot the release. This continues to be an ongoing investigation. If individuals have any information on this investigation, they are asked to contact the department at (765) 456-7017.
