3 arrested after Target stores broken into
BRIGHTON, Mich. Jan 15 2020– Three people were arrested Monday morning after Target stores were broken into in Fenton and Brighton, Michigan State Police said.
The Fenton Police Department dispatch center was contacted by Target Corporate Security at 2:10 a.m. regarding the forced entry at the store at 3255 Owen Road, according to a statement released by Fenton police.
Police said the suspects’ vehicle, a black Chevrolet Malibu, left the Target driveway and headed westbound on Owen Road. Officers attempted a traffic stop with lights and sirens activated but the Malibu ignored the officer in pursuit and continued onto southbound US-23, according to police.
Troopers with the Michigan State Police were able to stop the vehicle with stop sticks near Faussett Road. The vehicle came to a stop south of M-59 in Livingston County.
All three suspects left the vehicle and tried to flee on foot. A 17-year-old male was apprehended on foot.
Officers used a K-9 and drone technology to track down and arrest the remaining two suspects. They are suspected of being responsible for a break-in at a Target store in Brighton back in December.
Police are seeking multiple charges as the matter remains under investigation.
It’s not known if these thefts are connected to three other Target store break-ins earlier this month in Allen Park, Dearborn and Woodhaven. In those cases, the thieves broken into the store through the front doors and made off with thousands of dollars worth of electronics. Police said the robbers worked quickly and efficiently.
