30 year veteran of Florida Highway Patrol killed on I-75
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla June 16 2017 — A 30 year veteran of the Florida Highway Patrol was killed after he was struck by a vehicle on I-75 Saturday evening.
Sgt. William Trampass Bishop was working a traffic crash on I-75 southbound at 6 P.M. near the Alachua County and Columbia County line in High Springs.
While outside his vehicle, troopers said Bishop was struck and killed by another vehicle.
Troopers said that several vehicles were involved in the crash.
Bishop was taken to UF Health Shands where he died.
He leaves behind his wife, Lisa and son.
Further details are still under investigation. There was no word on pending charges against the driver who struck the trooper.
