4 Saskatoon Home Depot workers hurt after shovel attack

An extra security guard is walking the aisles at a Home Depot store in Saskatoon to make employees feel safer after a man allegedly grabbed a shovel and hit and injured four people working at the store on Saturday.
The incident involved a subcontracted cleaner, the store’s assistant manager Prakash Vupapapalepati told CBC.
The cleaner was working the early morning shift at the 707 Circle Drive East location at 6:15 a.m., about 45 minutes before doors opened to customers.
Saskatoon police said by the time officers arrived, the suspect had left but they arrested a 29-year-old man nearby.
Police say they do not know what caused the sudden violence, but did say the suspect knew the victims.
Two of the injured people were taken to hospital and two were treated at the store by paramedics.
Police say the four victims did not face life-threatening injuries, and Vupapapalepati said the employees who were hurt are currently off work and are being paid for their time away.
There has been one extra security guard working for the past three days as part of the new safety precautions in place.
The 29-year-old man has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of assault.
