4 Suspects in Kohl’s Burglary Arrested; Stolen Vehicle Recovered
VICTORVILLE, Calif. July 10 2017 A burglary at a department store led deputies to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of four suspects Thursday afternoon.
At 1:10 pm, sheriff’s dispatch received a report from loss prevention at the Kohl’s located at 14305 Bear Valley Road in Victorville.
“They were observed placing merchandise into four large bags. The subjects exited the store, leaving the bags behind, and had come back into the store,” stated a Sheriff’s press release.
Victorville Station deputies responded to the location and positioned themselves around the shopping center. CHP helicopter H82 responded and assisted ground deputies.
The helicopter pilot was able to observe the four subjects as they continued to enter and exit the store several times.
“At one point, two subjects exited the store, got into a green Honda Accord and began driving through the parking lot. Deputies conducted a felony vehicle stop and took the two into custody without incident,” officials said.
As deputies were conducting the stop on the vehicle the other two subjects ran out of the store, each carrying two of the bags filled with unpaid merchandise.
Deputies quickly ordered the pair to stop. Both dropped the bags and one complied with commands and was detained. The other subject began to run but was caught on Bear Valley Road, in front of the store.
The Honda being used by subjects was found to have been stolen from its owner’s home earlier in the day.
All four subjects, identified as Venetta Carrillo, 20, of San Bernardino, Nicholas Segura, 23, of San Bernardino, Rick Paez, 20, of Blythe, and Kevin Pratt, 31, of San Bernardino were booked at High Desert Detention Center for burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle.
