6 Arrested For Assaulting Security Officer During Theft of $8K In Perfume
QUEENS NY November 2 2019 — Police arrested six boys on Wednesday for stealing nearly $8,000 worth of fragrances from a Sephora in Forest Hills.
The group of six walked into the Sephora at 71-30 Austin St. about 1:40 p.m. and stuffed 78 fragrance bottles into bags, according to an NYPD spokesperson.
When a security guard tried to stop the boys from leaving the store, one of the boys punched the guard in the face and the group managed to race away in a white BMV, the spokesperson said.
NYPD officers managed to track down the car, but, as they were arresting two of the boys, the other four jumped out and ran away, according to the spokesperson. Officers chased them down and put them under arrest.
The boys, all Brooklyn residents, range in age from 17 to 21. They face charges of robbery, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and harassment, police said.
