87 arrests and counting — Career criminal rips off Brooklyn Gap, but security gives chase
Brooklyn NY March 2 2019
A security guard chased down a crook with an astounding 86 prior arrests after the thief ripped off a Brooklyn Gap, threatened the guard with a razor and then hid in a nearby subway station, where cops cuffed him.
Suspect Brian Colter, 47, was charged with robbery, grand larceny, weapons possession, resisting arrest, menacing and trespassing after his 6:45 p.m. Tuesday arrest at the Jay St. station in Downtown Brooklyn.
Police said Colter minutes earlier walked into the Fulton Mall, on Fulton St., and stuffed 48 clothing items worth about $1,300 into a black bag.
When he tried to leave the store, the security guard stopped him but Colter threatened to cut him with a razor and ran off. The guard followed Colter in the station but lost track — and flagged down Officer Billy Wong and Sgt. Luis Feliciano. Along with Officers Jonathan Schwaner and John Quinn, the cops cornered Colter as he hid in a train at the station, police said..
Colter’s rap sheet includes four robbery arrests and eight grand larceny busts. Thirty-two other arrests were for petty larceny.
