91-year-old Levittown School District crossing guard retires after 41 years of service
Nassau County NY Jan 24 2023
A 91-year-old Nassau County police crossing guard who has served the Levittown School District for more than 40 years will be helping safely make it to school for the last time today.
A celebration will be held for Louise Kobs as she works at her last crossing at the corner of Violet Lane and Orchid Road for students at Northside Elementary School.
“I guess it’s just the idea that I love serving my community working for the Nassau County Police Department, and I love the children,” says Kobs. “I talk to the children all the time. I just love them. They are my best friends.”
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, members of the police department, school officials as well family, friends and members of the community will be at Kobs’ after-school crossing to honor her for her years of dedicated service.
