Tesco store security guard punched unconscious in sickening unprovoked attack
Manchester England Aug 14 2018 A Tesco security guard was punched unconscious in a vicious and unprovoked attack after a dispute with a shopper at a store in Gorton.
The violent incident happened at the Tesco Extra branch on Hyde Road at around 1.10am on Saturday.
Police said the man, aged in his 50s, was the victim of an unprovoked attack in which he was punched in the head.
He was taken to hospital but fortunately has since been discharged.
Police closed the branch for several hours as they examined CCTV and interviewed shocked witnesses.
A source told the news the entire incident was caught on store cameras and is “horrific”.
“From what I hear the wife/gf stopped him from continuing the attack as he had blood coming from his head and looked dead,” the source said.
“He probably would’ve carried on and killed him otherwise.”
Following the incident it’s believed the couple left the shop together and got in a car.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were called to the Tesco store at 1.10am to reports a member of staff had been assaulted.
Police said the attacker is described as a black male, 6ft to 6ft4in tall, aged in his 30s, with short, cropped black hair and of a muscular build.
