Man had loaded shotgun in car parked at Dominican College
ORANGETOWN NY Sept 3 2018
A sophomore transfer student was arrested at Dominican College in Orangetown for criminal possession of a weapon.
It happened at the Rockland college on Wednesday after the Ramapo Police Department contacted the college regarding a student assault that happened off campus in Spring Valley.
The 24-year-old student allegedly got into a fight before driving to school.
Ramapo police developed information that the student may have a weapon, so they searched his dorm and then his car.
That’s when the police say they found that Alexander Corbin had a loaded 12-gauge shotgun in the trunk of his car, which was parked in the school’s parking lot.
John Lennon, director of public safety and security and Dominican College, says there was no “immediate threat,” but students still say they feel uneasy about a loaded gun making it onto campus.
“That’s actually a little eerie because what are the intentions with a gun,” said Seth Wilson, a senior at the college.
He is being held on $10,000 bail.
Dominican College also released a statement on social media, saying, “Thanks to Orangetown Police for arresting a new student for having a weapon in his car. The student has been removed from campus and expelled.”
