Security guard charged with stealing from Boynton Beach hospital

A former security guard at a Boynton Beach hospital is accused of stealing nearly $30,000 from the facility by making phony reimbursements to his credit-card accounts, according to an arrest report.
Boynton Beach police allege that Alkey Brian Noel, 24, of suburban Lake Worth used the money he stole from Bethesda Hospital East to pay off his credit cards. The thefts took place between May 19 and Aug. 26, police said.
Noel was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on Aug. 30 after his arrest on a charge of fraud between $20,000 and $50,000. His bail was $5,000.
Noel used a credit-card machine in an administrative office he was prohibited from entering to transfer the money to his own accounts, the report said. Noel allegedly credited himself 22 times with sums ranging from $120 to $3,495.
A surveillance-camera video was set up in the office, and Noel was allegedly captured using the credit-card machine on Aug. 29. He was terminated from his job the same day, the report said.
Noel admitted to the thefts, the report said. He told Boynton Beach police he is going through “hard times.”
