Las Vegas private security fatally shoot three people in 3 weeks
LAS VEGAS NV June 11 2017
A fatal shooting by a private security officer at a store is the third fatal shooting by a security guard in Las Vegas within a month.
The man killed in the shooting Friday night has been identified as 31-year-old Las Vegas resident Starsky Tautava. The Clark County coroner said he died of a gunshot wound to his chest and death was ruled a homicide.
Lt. CJ Jenkins says around 7 p.m. the shooting occurred at the Adult World store located in the 3700 block of Mead Avenue.
Police say a man took an Uber to the store and told the driver to wait for him. At the time, police say one witness and two employees were there when the man came into the building.
While inside the store, police say the employees asked the man to leave after they recognized him as someone who had caused trouble before.
After words were exchanged between the man and the store’s security officer, a fight broke out and the security officer shot the man in the chest.
Tautava was taken to UMC where he died from his injury.
Police say the security guard is a licensed gun carrier and was severely beaten during the fight.
The other two shootings involved a robbery attempt and a disturbance at a nightclub.
