Pair charged in 1,000 vehicle break-ins in North Carolina and Virginia
King NC October 13 2018
King police say they have solved a large number of auto-break-ins all over North Carolina and Virginia as a result of an ongoing investigation with the Virginia State Police.
Two people were arrested after King police responded to a report of suspicious activity in the Jefferson Woods housing development in King early Sunday.
Police said a woman behind the wheel of a black Mazda 3 with Virginia license plates had been driving through the neighborhood, and parking with the headlights off while a man who was with her went through yards from house to house looking for unlocked cars.
Arrested were Darrien Craig-Maurice Palmer, 26, of Fairlawn, Va., and Margarita Lised Aguilar-Salmanca, 24, of Pulaski, Va. They were each initially charged with felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle and felony larceny from a motor vehicle.
Palmer was being held in the Forsyth County jail with bond set at $10,000, authorities said. Aguilar-Salmanca was not being held in the jail as of Monday.
Police asked anyone with items missing from vehicles during the night of Sept. 29 or the morning of Sept. 30 to call 336-983-0886.
