8 arrested including 3 security guards during Montclair drug raid
Montclair, CA October 15 2018
Eight people were arrested and nearly 300 pounds of marijuana were seized after Montclair police served a search warrant at a commercial building Friday morning, Oct. 12, authorities said.
The Montclair Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team and Detective Bureau served the warrant about 9:45 a.m. in the 4000 block of Holt Boulevard, police said.
Once inside, officers seized more than 200 pounds of marijuana edibles and more than 80 pounds of various forms of processed marijuana. Police also seized computers and firearms, the Department said in a release.
Five women who worked at the location were arrested, as were three male security guards, on suspicion of possession for sale of cannabis, police said. The suspects are all 21-years old or older, but further details were not released.
Montclair’s Code Enforcement also participated in the operation, police said.
The city has an ordinance prohibiting all commercial cannabis activity.
“The clandestine dispensaries often have poor ventilation and unsafe building code violations, making the establishments unsafe for the surrounding communal properties and those working inside,” the release said.
