Armored truck catches fire on I-10 in Mobile Alabama
MOBILE, Ala. November 9 2018— Mobile Fire-Rescue units and Mobile Police responded to a commercial vehicle fire alongside Interstate 10 in Mobile Thursday morning.
Fire officials reports that a Loomis armored truck was burning when firefighters arrived on the scene.
This was just outside the George C. Wallace tunnel exit on westbound I-10 in downtown Mobile.
Around 8 a.m., firefighters were working to extinguish the fire — apparently within the engine compartment or undercarriage of the vehicle.
Smoke and flames could be seen according to drivers on I-10.
Traffic seemed minimally affected, with only one travel lane blocked by fire trucks. The armored truck was alongside the interstate on the shoulder.
Police stood by while a second Loomis armored truck pulled up behind the damaged vehicle and off-loaded the contents of the burnt truck.
At this times, no injuries have been reported.
