Three nightclub security officers shot in Oakland California
OAKLAND CA November 12 2018 — Five men, including three members of an Old Oakland nightclub security team, were wounded in shootings Saturday night and Sunday morning, authorities said.
A police car was also hit by gunfire in the Old Oakland shooting, but no officers were injured.
All of the men shot are expected to recover.
The Old Oakland shooting happened about 2:16 a.m. Sunday outside the Parliament, a nightclub at 811 Washington Street, just two blocks from Oakland police headquarters.
Police said the club was letting out when someone began shooting at three men who are part of the club’s security team. The men, ages, 48, 47 and 29, were taken to a hospital in stable condition, authorities said. No one else was injured, and police don’t know why the shooting started.
Authorities said officers in a police car that was in the area of 10th and Washington streets heard the gunfire and began driving toward the scene. An apparent stray bullet hit the front grill of the police car, but the officers were not hurt, authorities said.
The shooter was able to flee and is being sought.
About 10:34 p.m. Saturday two men were wounded in a drive-by shooting in East Oakland.
The men, ages 20 and 40, were walking in the 2900 block of 35th Avenue when someone in a vehicle driving south began shooting at them.
The wounded men were taken to a hospital in stable condition, and the vehicle fled before police got on the scene.
Police have not determined a motive yet, and no arrests have been made.
