Man kills concert-goer, wounds 5 more at Houston club
Houston TX November 28 2018
Police apprehended a gunman accused of slaying a teen concert-goer and wounding five more — three of them children — at an Independence Heights club Sunday night after he was denied entry, according to authorities.
The suspect refused to be searched as he tried entering a club that was hosting a concert for teens around 6:30 p.m. in the 4500 block of Yale Street, north of Crosstimbers, police said. A security guard at the door then turned him away.
The suspect returned to the parking lot and apparently started a fight that escalated to gunfire. He fired a spray of about 20 bullets, some of which penetrated the club windows and fatally struck a teenager standing at the bar inside, police said.
Police described a chaotic scene outside, where two more adults wounded in the attack drove themselves and two kids to a nearby hospital instead of waiting for an ambulance. One of the adults suffered a gunshot through the cheek, police said. The children suffered cuts from broken glass from shattered windows.
The fifth victim, another teenager, was grazed in the back by a bullet and remained at the scene with a younger sibling until their parents could get to the club, police said.
The suspect responsible for the shooting fled the club in a blue Dodge Magnum. He was captured a half hour later about 4 miles away in the 1000 block of Dolly Wright Street. Two women were in the car with him, police said.
The gunman was not identified.
