Man commits suicide inside Canton Ohio hospital emergency department

Police responded to assist hospital security officers after a man reportedly committed suicide inside the emergency room.
Police responded Tuesday afternoon to the emergency room lobby of a Canton hospital after a man committed suicide with a firearm, police say.
Canton police responded about 3 p.m. for a call of shots fired at Aultman Hospital on the 2600 block of 6th Street SW, Lt. Dennis Garren of the Canton Police Department said.
Officers found that the gunfire came from the ER lobby, Garren said.
Police secured the building and grounds and determined that the only injury was suffered by the person who died by suicide, Garren said.
The victim’s name has not been released pending family notification, Garren said.

Today at around 3:15 p.m., an individual died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the emergency department of Aultman Hospital. All employees and patients are safe. We appreciate the quick response of the Canton Police.
