Security guards shake-down, extort patrons at Opera Atlanta
Atlanta GA December 3 2018
An investigation is underway after numerous people attending the Oprea Atlanta nightclub for a concert were shaken down by door staff and security guards.
Some customers who stood in line for more than two hours say that were intimidated by security for the way that they were dressed and was told that there were additional fees for wearing jeans, sweatpants or clothing that showed too much skin.
At this time, authorities say that they are aware of numerous patrons that were extorted in amounts ranging from $20-$125 based on their attire.
The reported incidents took place last night, November 30th, at an event headlined by Boogie T at the popular Atlanta, Georgia nightclub.
Attendees also claimed that the guards accepted bribes from ticket holders in return for letting them advance in line.
Opera Atlanta Director of Marketing Alexandra Trawick stated that the nightclub’s management has dealt with employees whose behavior last night did not reflect their principles, and explained that a wrist banding error on the part of the club’s management accounted for attendees’ long wait times.
Trawick did point out that the dress code is in fact listed on the website as well as two signs outside of the exterior building,
She has also said that Opera Atlanta plans to make things right with the patrons affected by the service breakdowns.
This venue is not affiliated with the “Atlanta Oprea”.
