Security officer fatally shoots man at Hollywood Walgreen’s store
Hollywood CA December 4 2018 A homicide investigation is underway after a 21-year-old man was shot and killed by a security guard at a Walgreens in Hollywood late Sunday, police said.
Police say that a confrontation between the man and security officer erupted when the man escalated it into a physical fight.
Witnesses said that the confrontation began about 8:10 p.m. at 1501 Vine St. and once the man began fighting, the security guard pulled out his handgun and shot the man.
The man, whose name has not been released, died at a hospital, she said.
The security officer has cooperated with detectives and was not arrested at this time while the investigation continues.
It is not clear whether the man was armed or what prompted the shooting.
