Man Accosted Women at Mall, Fled Police
Taunton MA June 20 2017 A Massachusetts man is accused of accosting three young women at a Taunton mall over the weekend, and allegedly tried to flee from officers and struggled during his arrest.
Wayne Erikson, 33, of Kingston, is facing charges of accosting, assault and battery and resisting arrest.
Police say they responded to the Silver City Galleria Mall around 9:15 p.m. Sunday. Three women reported Erikson approached them in the food court and placed his hands on their shoulders. The woman responded by telling Erikson to leave and reported him to mall security.
Mall security escorted Erikson to the security office, where he allegedly gave a false name.
While he was in custody, Erikson allegedly fled the security office and was wrestled down outside, where he continued to struggle with officers.
Erikson was ultimately taken into custody. Police say they also discovered he had an outstanding warrant from Waltham District Court.
He is scheduled to be arraigned in Taunton District Court Monday. It’s not clear if he has an attorney.
