Valley Stream NY December 28 2018
A father and son from Richmond Hill, along with an accomplice from Brooklyn, allegedly stole more than $500,000 from an armored truck in Valley Stream on Nov. 2.
Raymond Soto Sr., also known as “Razor” was arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court on Friday. His son Raymond Soto Jr., also known as “Rambo” remained a fugitive as of press time. The accomplice, Alexis LaGuerra, was also arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court on Friday.
Assistant United States Attorney Charles Kelly said that investigators excuted a search warrant anf recovered $131,000 in cash, a gun and ammunition from the Sotos’ Richmond Hill home. The cash was packaged in the same way that the armored car company, GardaWorld, packages the money it transports.
Kelly said the three defendants are part of a group called the “Unknown Bikers Motorcycle Club.”
LaGuerra, 30, worked for GardaWorld and enlisted the Sotos, ages 48 and 28, to rob the truck while LaGuerra was working his shift and refilling ATMs on Long Island on Nov. 2, prosecutors said.
When LaGuerra and his coworker pulled up to a bank on Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream shortly before 2:30 a.m., the coworker exited the car to fill the ATMs. The Sotos and LaGuerra stole the vehicle and ditched it nearby after stealing three bags of cash, prosecutors said.
