The Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force is mourning the loss of Commander Pat Doyle.
Doyle passed away early Sunday morning.
Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said Doyle had been diagnosed with cancer, but he did not respond to treatments.
The Dade County Sheriff’s Office posted their condolences on Facebook.
“Pat has been a part of law enforcement in this area for many years, had many friends, and made many impacts on so many lives. Patrick Doyle was one of a kind!!” the post said.
The Fort Oglethorpe Police Department also remembered Doyle on Facebook.
“Patrick was a beloved member of our community and of our law enforcement family. He served with kindness and compassion for all he encountered which made him a mentor and friend for his fellow officers. Rarely do we have the pleasure of serving with such a wonderful example of what a leader should be and we consider ourselves fortunate to have served alongside Patrick,” the post read.
The Chickamauga Police Department said Doyle was one of the best officers many of them ever met.
“Commander Doyle impacted so many life’s in our community as well as many communities in North Georgia. We truly lost one of the best law enforcement officers many of us have ever known,” a spokesperson said.
The City of LaFayette remembered Doyle on social media as well. A spokesperson said Doyle was a friend to everyone.
“It is a very sad day for us as we have lost one of our finest employees. Lt. Patrick D. Doyle began working for us in 1997 as an officer. He eventually moved to the LMJC Drug Task Force a few years later as an agent representing the city. Patrick served as Commander for several years with the Drug Task Force. Patrick was recently nominated and received the 2018 Officer of the Year from the City of LaFayette Police Department. He served the entire Northwest Georgia District with selfless pride during his years of service. Patrick was a friend to everyone and his kindness and compassion had no boundaries. His sense of humor and sarcastic wit made everyone his friend. He loved his family and he had a passion for hunting and fishing. Patrick D. Doyle will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We would like to extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family of Patrick.”
Sheriff Wilson said Doyle leaves behind his wife and teenage son.
The Dade County Sheriff’s Office asks that you keep Doyle’s family, friends and co-workers in your thoughts and prayers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday at First Baptist Church of LaFayette from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. A memorial service will then take place at 2:00 pm.
