Westfield woman wanted on 9 shoplifting warrants arrested in Wareham for shoplifting
WAREHAM MA June 26 2017 – A Westfield woman wanted on nine outstanding shoplifting warrants from throughout the state was arrested Wednesday after stealing $70 worth of merchandise from the Family Dollar store in Wareham.
Police said they were called to Family Dollar at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on the report of a female shoplifter who left the store and was possibly still in the area after stealing the approximately $70 worth of merchandise, which she reportedly stuffed into a backpack.
Within a short period of time, officers located and arrested 55-year-old Jayne Decoste of Westfield in the plaza, and the stolen items were recovered from her backpack, police said.
Police said Decoste was also placed under arrest for nine outstanding warrants issued by various courts for unrelated past shoplifting incidents. Warrants had been issued by district courts in Holyoke, Brookline, Springfield, Westfield, Quincy, and Hingham.
Decoste was arraigned on the charge of shoplifting-10th subsequent offense in Wareham District Court and ordered held on $1,500 cash bail. She will be back in Wareham District Court on July 21 for a pre-trial hearing.
