Trader Joe’s shoplifter charged with assaulting security
AUSTIN TX Jan 16 2019 The Austin Police Department has taken into custody a man accused of stealing a six-pack of beer from Trader Joe’s and assaulting a security officer with one of the cans.
According to the arrest warrant, Seth Lee Arthur, 25, was confronted by a security officer after leaving the Trader Joe’s at 211 Walter Seaholm with six cans of beer and a package of sushi. A security officer went after Arthur and approached him about a block away, when the man launched several of the cans at the officer. One of the cans exploded on the man’s torso, causing pain on impact.
Arthur then reportedly attempted to fight the man and the officer called a bystander to call the police. APD arrived and took the man into custody.
Arthur faces a third-degree felony assault charge on a security officer.
