Security guard shoots man who fired gun into crowd in northeast Dallas

A security guard shot a man who pointed a gun at him after firing into a crowd and striking another person Monday afternoon, Dallas police reported.
Responding officers found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his shoulder around 4:30 p.m. in the 7000 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, near Park Lane in northeast Dallas.
According to police, the 18-year-old had gotten into an argument with a group, pointed a handgun at the crowd and fired into it, hitting another man in the ankle.
The man, who has not been identified, then pointed his gun at a security officer at a nearby business who witnessed the shooting, police said. The security officer fired his weapon and hit the man in the shoulder, police said.
When the gunman fell to the ground, the security guard detained him, secured his weapon and called police.
Both men’s gunshot wounds were not life-threatening, police said.
