Walmart Loss Prevention Nabs Employee In Register Thefts
CLERMONT FL Feb 6 2019 – A checkout clerk at the Clermont Walmart who was charged Sunday with stealing from the register told police he did so because he’s homeless.
According to an arrest report, a Walmart security officer told police that clerk Aaron Demetrius Mitchell, 29, had pocketed money from the register or in some cases handed it to a friend on four occasions in the last couple of weeks. The amounts ranged from $100 to $340.
Mitchell reportedly admitted to police that he took the money and said he did so because he is homeless and needed the money to pay for food and a place to stay.
On the way to the Lake County Jail, Mitchell reportedly told the arresting officer, “I can’t believe that it took this long for them to catch me.”
