Lincoln security officers shoot man who attacked them
LINCOLN, Neb. February 12 2019 Police have arrested a man connected to a large disturbance and shooting outside a north Lincoln restaurant.
LPD said Carlos Sanchez was arrested for terroristic threats and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, Lincoln police were called to La Cabana, near 33rd and Cornhusker Highway, on a report of a large disturbance.
Investigators believe security guards were attempting to close the bar when they were attacked by several suspects.
According to Lincoln Police, Sanchez approached one of the security guards making a slashing motion with a knife.
The guard was able to wrestle the knife away from Sanchez and place him in a chokehold, police said, when he was attacked by three other men.
Police said the guard went to the ground, and he fired multiple warning shots, but the attack continued.
The security guard then shot one of the attackers in the shoulder, LPD said.
Both the security guard and the wounded suspect were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the security guard is not facing charges, but that could change as the investigation continues.
