Nashville teen arrested for shooting at police and security officers
NASHVILLE, Tenn. Feb 15 2019 A teenager has been arrested in connection with a shooting last year outside of a club near Nashville International Airport that wounded a woman and damaged a police cruiser.
David Navarro, 19, was charged Monday with three counts of attempted murder and one count of reckless endangerment.
The shooting happened the morning of Sunday, September 23 at Galaxy Club on Murfreesboro Pike.
According to an arrest affidavit for Navarro, security officers reported there had been an altercation out front and weapons were involved.
When Metro police arrived, they said multiple gunshots were fired in front of the club.
A female was located outside with a non life-threatening gunshot wound to her arm, the paperwork stated.
The shooters fled the scene in several different vehicles including a red or maroon Chrysler 300. Officers were able to snap a photo of the temporary tag on the vehicle before it drove off.
Police said the Chrysler left the scene but drove back toward the club and fired shots at three Metro officers, security officers and patrons of the club.
No one was hit by the gunfire but a police cruiser was struck by at least one bullet as the Chrysler fled the scene.
Investigators identified the driver of the Chrysler as Navarro and said he admitted to driving the getaway vehicle but stated that he did not know who the shooter was.
Navarro told officers that people he did not know jumped into the vehicle and a passenger reached over and fired the gunshots, the arrest affidavit states.
Bond for Navarro was set at more than $450,000.
