Chesapeake deputy is accused of a sexual crime against an inmate
CHESAPEAKE, Va. March 1 2019— A Chesapeake deputy is accused of a sexual crime against an inmate, officials said.
Timothy Burnside is charged with misdemeanor sexual battery of an inmate by an employee, the Chesapeake sheriff’s office said.
Burnside was a deputy with the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office for 17 years and was assigned to court security.
The sheriff’s office terminated Burnside on Feb. 16 before he was charged.
