Man charged with head-butting hospital security officers
Columbia MO March 3 2019 A Columbia man has been charged with assault for head-butting two University of Missouri Hospital security officers last Saturday after he was taken into custody while intoxicated.
Recco E. Charters, 35, was “extremely intoxicated and violent” when Boone County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance, according to the probable cause statement written by deputy Dane Huffman. When deputies arrived at the home shortly after midnight, Charters was at the door of the residence holding a large knife, Huffman wrote. After dropping the knife, Charters “took an aggressive stance toward deputies,” who used a taser to subdue him.
Inside, deputies found two women who told them they had been held at knifepoint for more than two hours in the home. Both women had red marks on their faces where they had been struck.
Charters was taken to University of Missouri Hospital, where he head-butted two hospital security officers.
Charters is charged with domestic assault in the second degree, assault in the second degree, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, kidnapping and resisting arrest.
