Son of police officer killed, 2 security officers injured in shooting at Harvey strip club
HARVEY, Ill. March 15 2019— A man was killed and several others were injured after a shooting at a south suburban strip club.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday at Boogie Nights Gentlemen’s Club on 147th and Wood streets in Harvey.
Three people, including two security guards, were shot inside the club. Two of three have been released. The third person’s condition was stabilized.
The situation escalated outside where another person was shot.
A 25-year-old man, who was the son of a Harvey Police Officer, was killed.
He has been identified by family members as Divonni Keel. Keel was the son of Harvey Police Lt. Darnell Keel who was recognized for his bravery after taking a bullet during a standoff.
Harvey Police Chief Greg Thomas issued the following statement:
“There is an obvious emotional toll on the Harvey Police Department due to the tragic loss of an officer’s son.
At this time the bereaving Officer in our department is asking for privacy as we comfort him and each other.”
No one is in custody.
