Security Guard Fatally Shot, Woman Injured In Falmouth Robbery

A security guard was shot and killed and a woman shot and injured during an armed robbery at a cash pot store along Market Street in Falmouth, Trelawny on Wednesday night.
He has been identified as 76-year-old Albert Mowatt of a Trelawny address.
The Falmouth police report that 7:30 p.m. last night Mowatt was on duty when two gunmen entered the establishment.
Mowatt reportedly engaged the men in a shootout and during the exchange, he and the woman received gunshot wounds.
The gunmen then robbed the establishment of an undetermined sum of money and Mowatt’s licensed firearm.
The police were summoned to the scene and upon their arrival, the injured persons were rushed to hospital where Mowatt was pronounced dead and the woman admitted in serious but stable condition.
Four persons have been murdered in Trelawny since the start of the year.
