Security guard injured while pursuing shoplifting suspect in Paso Robles
PASO ROBLES, Calif. April 4 2019 – A loss prevention agent at a Paso Robles pharmacy store was injured Monday evening while chasing after a shoplifting suspect.
At around 9:30 p.m., Paso Robles Police Department responded to the 2700 block of Spring Street for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Police located the person in the road with cuts and abrasions. Police determined that the person was a security guard at the nearby Rite Aid store.
The security guard was working at the store when he saw a suspected shoplifter leave without paying for multiple items.
They approached the suspect, a white male adult, who fled to the parking lot and got into a white pickup truck.
The security guard was holding onto the vehicle when the suspect drove off, causing them to fall to the ground and get injured.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Paso Robles Police Department.
