Security officer fires gunshots at armed man during domestic dispute
Culver City CA April 9 2019 A man allegedly armed with a knife and involved in a domestic dispute with a woman in Culver City was taken into custody Monday following a fight with an armed security guard, who fired at least one gunshot that did not hit anyone, police said.
The incident occurred about 8 a.m. at Washington Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue, the Culver City Police Department reported.
“A local armed security guard tried to intervene during the domestic dispute,” Culver City police Lt. Troy Dunlap said in a statement.
“The male suspect armed himself with a knife and engaged the security guard,” Dunlap said. “During the altercation between the security guard and the … suspect, the security guard discharged his firearm. No one was hit by gunfire and all involved parties were detained by our officers, without further incident.”
The suspect’s name was not immediately released.
The woman was treated for minor injuries she suffered during the domestic dispute, Dunlap said. No police officers fired any shots, Dunlap said. Traffic was routed away from the area while an investigation was conducted.
