Brazen thief steals security guard’s tires, wheels
Salina KS April 17 2019 A security guard at a business south of Salina is out $1,500 worth of tires and wheels after an incident early Saturday morning.
Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said Monday that a 58-year-old Salina woman who was working at the security gate at the Advanced Auto Parts Distribution Center, 3633 S. Ninth, noticed an older red car with two flat tires pull into the parking lot of the business near her vehicle at about 5 a.m. Saturday.
When she checked on the vehicle, the driver, described as a black or Hispanic male, looked to be changing one of the tires, Soldan said.
The security guard didn’t notice when the man left, but she found out his true intent when she attempted to leave work and the tires and wheels on her vehicle, including two flat tires, fell off. Soldan said the man had switched the tires and wheels on his car with the tires on the guard’s vehicle.
