Panama City security guard charged after accidental shooting
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. April 28 2019 A shooting has led Panama City police to arrest a security guard who shot himself.
The security guard working ahead of Thunder Beach is facing a weapons charge after Panama City Beach police say he shot himself in the leg.
Officers responded to Harley Davidson on Back Beach Road where they found Maurice James of Greenville, Florida with a gunshot wound to his right leg.
They say James was working with DSI Security Services ahead of Thunder Beach.
According to Police, James displayed his firearm in a careless manner and was not actively engaged in self-defense or the protection of another person.
He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and charged with improper display of a firearm.
