Former Hawthorne High School security sentenced to prison for sex crimes
Alachua County FL April 28 2019
A former Hawthorne High School contract security guard accused of raping a 14-year-old girl was sentenced to prison Wednesday.
Hiram Demenico Jackson, 25, was sentenced to five years in prison by Circuit Judge James Colaw, after he pleaded guilty to a charge of lewd and lascivious behavior with a victim aged 12 to 16.
Jackson was also charged with sexual battery on a person under 18 and serving alcohol to a person younger than 21, but those charges were dropped as part of the plea deal.
The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jackson in February 2018 after the girl reported he had given her alcohol, molested her and then raped her. The girl told law enforcement Jackson was a mentor and security guard at her school.
Jackie Johnson, spokeswoman for the Alachua County School Board, confirmed then that Jackson had served as a security guard for at least one basketball game, but said he was not a school district employee or mentor.
With the sentencing, Jackson will become a registered sex offender.
