1 injured during attempted robbery at Tamarack Junction Casino
RENO, Nev. July 14 2017 One person was injured during a robbery attempt Wednesday afternoon at the Tamarack Junction Casino in south Reno, according to police.
On Wednesday, July 12, officers responded to the casino on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon with a shot fired.
Officers determined that a suspect approached the attendant working the sports book and robbed them at gunpoint for an undetermined amount of money.
After robbing the employee, the suspect attempted to flee on foot, but was tackled by a casino patron and a security guard.
During the physical struggle to detain the suspect, a shot was fired.
No one was struck by the bullet, however, the patron received non-life threatening injuries during the encounter.
The suspect left the scene in a waiting vehicle driving by a second suspect. Neither suspect has been identified at this time.
Police say the suspect who fired a shot is described as a black male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. The male’s face was blocked by his hood and an unknown object over his mouth and nose.
The vehicle is described as a green Ford Explorer with tinted windows and oxidizing paint on the hood.
