Deputy Sheriff Jay Dailey was killed in a vehicle crash while responding a burglary in progress shortly before midnight.

His patrol car left the roadway on a curve and overturned, causing him to suffer fatal injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he passed away.

Deputy Dailey had served with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for only four months. He had previously served with the Alabama Department of Corrections and the Thomasville Police Department. He is survived by one child.
